Wednesday Apr 14, 2021
Wednesday Apr 14, 2021
In this solo episode I talk about why “being happy” is not that great of a goal. Chasing happiness might leave you feeling empty because happiness is a fleeting feeling. Instead, I invite you to let go of the expectation that you must be happy all the time, and instead, focus on creating MEANING in your life.
You will learn...
-
How hedonic adaptation gets in the way of our happiness, no matter how much we achieve or accomplish in life
-
Why searching for happiness is NOT good for body-image
-
Tips for creating more meaning in your everyday life
Remember: Happiness is fleeting. Meaning is fulfilling. Ditch the happiness treadmill and start creating more meaning in your everyday life.

Wednesday Mar 10, 2021
Wednesday Mar 10, 2021
Have you ever Googled "self-love affirmations" hoping that they'll help you with self-love, but almost feeling like they... didn't work?
Affirmations sounds nice as an Instagram caption or on a Pinterest quote, but they can often leave us feeling like we're soooo far away from our goal. In this episode, Mary explains the psychology behind why affirmations don't work and what you can do instead that will really help you in your self-love journey.
Note: if affirmations work for you, then that's great! Do what's best for you. But try this other practice too and see how you feel. :)
