Wednesday Mar 25, 2020
Ailey is Registered Clinical Counsellor with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors. She holds a Masters of Counselling Psychology and is a student in the Global Mental Health: Trauma and Recovery Certificate Program at Harvard Medical School. In this episode, Ailey shares with us how eating disorders can often come after sexual violence, whether that’s a microaggression or a macro one. She gives us permission to feel, tips to heal, and ways we can begin to reconnect to our bodies after trauma. Ailey emphasizes that she is not only a therapist, but a human like you, so she shares a lot of her personal journey of struggling with an eating disorder, being in the modeling/pageant industry, rejecting her sexuality, and healing from her own sexual violence.
“Deep” doesn’t even begin to describe the true depth of what Ailey shares so when you listen, make sure to give yourself the time, space, and grace to process everything she says and think about ways to apply it to your own self love and healing journey.

Q&A with Mary- ED Recovery, Social Media Business, Life Goals, & More!
Mary answers YOUR questions about everything from starting a business on social media, recovering from an eating disorder, and overcoming codependency. Here are the questions Mary answers:
- Has being so open on social media affected your own eating disorder recovery? If so, how?
- Your life goals! Career? Kids? Marriage?
- How did you know you were ready to speak up and share your journey online?
- How did you deal with your codependency?
- Was one of your goals of ED recovery to stop thinking about food and weight all the time? If so, how do you deal with it now that your life is still about those topics?
- Do you feel like it’s inappropriate to compliment someone’s physical features if they’ve suffered from an eating disorder? How do you give compliments about someone’s appearance without triggering someone?
- How do you deal with others around you who are constantly negative about their own weight and self image?
- What do you think about BMI? Does BMI show state of health in some way?
- How do you create such consistent and relatable content all the time? How do you get more engagement on social media?
- Did you ever lose your period during your eating disorder years? If so, how did you get your period back in recovery?
- How did you start up your self love retreats?
- I’m finally feeling really confident in my body after gaining a significant amount of weight. However, my mom invalidates that I’ve ever struggled with disordered eating and she constantly violates my boundaries by suggesting that I need to lose weight. I can handle criticism from random trolls, but my self love journey feels incomplete without my mom on-board. How do you handle pushback from people you love?

#4: 22 Things I Learned in 22 Years
Wednesday Feb 05, 2020
Wednesday Feb 05, 2020
This is the birthday episode!! Mary shares with you life lessons she had to learn the hard way in her past 22 years on this earth. She talks about everything from sex, hair removal, and yeast infections, to divorce and relationships, to self love and body image.
Here are a few of her favorite lessons…
- You’re not everyone’s cup of tea, nor should you strive to be. There’ll always be people who won’t like you no matter what you do.
- Hating yourself will not make you happy. Criticizing your body will not make you look better. Shame will not make you feel worthy. Self-love is the way.
- Hair removal is overrated.
- Your body’s only purpose is to keep you alive. Be kind to it.
This episode is very personal so please let Mary know how you like it by screenshotting and tagging her in your Instagram stories!

#2: How to Fall in Love with Yourself
Thursday Jan 23, 2020
Thursday Jan 23, 2020
“We often think of self love as a noun…” a thing we want more of. “In reality, love is a verb…” something inside of us and something that we do; not something we possess. In this episode, Mary talks about the paradox of thinking that if we only have more things to do what we want to do then we can achieve self love. “If you want to have self love, start with the be.” We also hear more about Mary’s personal journey with body image and take a look at how it has affected her relationships in the past, from judging others to how it affected her sex life. Mary also discusses the importance of romanticizing your own life and what that could possibly look like for you. Take a moment to brew a warm cup of tea and enjoy the show!
