#173: The Beauty of “Failure”
Thursday Aug 03, 2023
Thursday Aug 03, 2023
Have you ever thought to yourself, “I feel like a failure”? As a Type A, self-motivated, achievement-driven kind of person, failure is something you might feel often… even when you haven’t actually failed. The worst kind of failure is when you don’t meet your OWN expectation of success (which is more often than not) and find yourself stuck in a never-ending cycle of “feeling like a failure.”
In this episode, you will learn...
- why feeling like a failure is a THOUGHT, not an emotion (and how to talk yourself out of that BS)
- how to deal with common feelings of failure like when your body changes, a relationship ends, or a job opportunity doesn’t work out quite the way you expected
- 3 mindset shifts to help you feel better about potential failures
Remember: Anything that feels like failure right now is pushing you, preparing you, and pointing you toward the path you’re actually meant to be on.

#172: The Missing Pieces of the Body-Image Puzzle with Lindsay Kite
Thursday Jul 27, 2023
Thursday Jul 27, 2023
Have you ever thought that you were happier when you were thinner/ prettier/ younger/ etc?
In a culture that values thinness and beauty, it’s hard not to believe that your value lies in your appearance. We buy into arbitrary beauty ideals and false promises, killing ourselves to look a certain way.
In this episode, we are joined by Dr. Lindsay Kite, co-author of the book More Than a Body and co-director of the nonprofit Beauty Redefined, to talk about healing body-image struggles.
You will learn...
- the missing piece of the puzzle when we talk about body-image
- how the male gaze affects body-image
- why losing weight and changing your appearance never solves the problem
- ways to combat toxic beauty ideals and build body
-image resilience
Remember: keeping up with beauty ideals is a losing game. Adhering to society’s definition of beauty does NOT buy love, confidence, health, or happiness. Usually, it only exacerbates body-image struggles.
Dr. Lindsay Kite is co-author of the book More Than a Body: Your Body Is an Instrument, Not an Ornament (2020, HarperCollins) and co-director of the nonprofit Beauty Redefined, alongside her identical twin sister Lexie Kite. Both received PhDs from the University of Utah in the study of female body image and have become leading experts in body image resilience and media literacy. Lindsay and Lexie help girls and women recognize and reject the harmful effects of objectification in their lives through their social media activism (IG @beauty_redefined), online course (morethanabody.org), and regular speaking engagements for people of all ages. Lindsay lives in New York City.

#168: Imbalances in Relationships & How to Fix Them with Eve Rodsky
Thursday Jun 29, 2023
Thursday Jun 29, 2023
WOW!!! This one is going down in history as one of our favorite episodes. Get ready to feel seen, heard, and understood thanks to this conversation with Eve Rodsky about the INVISIBLE and UNPAID labor of women.
Note: though we speak in heteronormative terms, this conversation is for anyone who feels like they’re taking on more responsibility in their relationship than their partner. And if you’re single/ dating and see yourself in a long-term partnership in the future, NOW is the time to start thinking about what “fair play” looks like.
You will learn...
- the 3 words that RUIN all relationships
- why women do more unpaid labor + some shocking statistics
- the secret formula for rebalancing the responsibilities in your household
- how to challenge cultural assumptions that say you must “do it all” and create a more equitable dynamic in your relationship
Remember: these gender imbalances are NOT YOUR FAULT nor are they your partner’s. There are a lot of cultural assumptions at play here and it’s time to dismantle them to create “fair play” between men and women.
Eve Rodsky transformed her “blueberries breakdown” into a catalyst for social change when she applied her Harvard-trained background in organizational management to ask the simple yet profound question: What would happen if we treated our homes as our most important organizations? Her New York Times bestselling book and Reese’s Book Club Pick, Fair Play, a gamified life-management system that helps partners rebalance their domestic workload and reimagine their relationship, has elevated the cultural conversation about the value of unpaid labor and care. In her highly anticipated follow-up, Find Your Unicorn Space: Reclaim Your Creative Life in a Too-Busy World, Rodsky explores the cross-section between the science of creativity, productivity, and resilience. Described as the ‘antidote to physical, mental, and emotional burnout,’ Rodsky aims to inspire a new narrative around the equality of time and the individual right to personal time choice that influences sustainable and lasting change on a policy level. Rodsky’s work is backed by Hello Sunshine—Reese Witherspoon’s media company whose mission is to change the narrative for women through storytelling. Rodsky was born and raised by a single mom in New York City and now lives in Los Angeles with her husband Seth and their three children.
